January

It’s hard to realize that a whole year has come and gone. Some people really look forward to a New Year; others just fear that a New Year will bring only more of the same. Where do you stand? Will 2007 be a fresh start with many new opportunities and challenges that God will grant you the ability to meet, or will it just be the same old thing with a different year assigned? If you are in Christ Jesus; the Bible teaches that you, not only the year, are new!

Put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. Ephesians 4: 22- 24

You can meet this brand New Year with a purpose and a mission to change who you are and to begin to become a better person in Christ; a new creature! Forget the failures and weaknesses of the past and look ahead, striving and straining for the prize.

Philippians 4: 12- 14 says,

Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me… one thing I do: forgetting what is behind and straining towards what is ahead. I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus!

I am grateful that God has given a New Year. Because if you’re anything like I am, then you know you have a long way to go. The really important thing is to realize that the Lord will be working in and through you to complete the work He began in you.

Be confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus!  Philippians 1: 6.

With these Scriptures in your hearts and minds you should welcome a New Year and the fact that you still belong to Jesus Christ. Whatever this New Year will bring is uncertain; but the fact that you will meet it in Christ our Lord is certain!

My family and I wish you all the best in Christ for 2007 and beyond, until He comes again.

Blessed New Year!

Pastor, Michelle and Joshua
