January
A new year begins. It is a fresh start. Everything that happened before is now behind and can be forgotten. Everything ahead has grand possibilities. God is so good and gracious to give us a chance to begin again. As a new year unfolds; what does it have in store? It has opportunities galore! It has opportunity to draw closer to our Lord in prayer, in praise, in worship and in service to those who are in need. We will have countless opportunities to reach out to others with the Good News of Jesus Christ.
We can begin this new year with confession of past sins and with the forgiveness of the Lord. We can begin again fresh and clean to serve our Lord and in His righteousness do works that are pleasing to Him.
Here at St. Matthew Lutheran Church and School we have been given a vision to be a beacon of light to our community. We have not completed that task. We have a new year in which to shine brighter than ever before. There is deep darkness all around us and our light can brighten our world. Begin your year with a pledge to choose at least one person that you know who needs to know the Savior. Pray for that person. Talk to that person about how God has brightened your life. Invite that person to come to worship with you. Invite that person to some of our activities here at church. Invite that person to pray with you. Just think if each one of our 30 people involved regularly at worship would invite and bring on person with them to church 30 would become 60! Imagine how exciting having 60 people at worship this year might be. We can double our attendance if each one would reach one. Let’s make that a goal for 2008.
With the Lord’s help we can accomplish this. I pray that this year will be successful and prosperous for all.
Have a blessed 2008 in Christ our Lord!
