January
Another year come and gone. Looking back, though the year flew by; we at St. Matthew Lutheran Church can look back and recall the fine 150th Anniversary Celebration we had. This was a huge undertaking and the committee worked hard to make 2004, our Anniversary year a big success. Now we look forward to the years ahead. As God has blessed us in the past, He will also bless us in the future.
How might 2005 be a better year for you? First, you can make it a better year by starting each day with prayer. Ask the Lord to direct your paths. You will find each day will be more focused when you involve the Lord Jesus Christ. In fact the whole year will be more focused. Next, you can spend some time in hearing the Lord speak to you. Read Scripture, sing hymns praise and worship songs drawn from the Bible. Perhaps you may want to memorize certain Bible passages to use against the Enemy and from which you can find strength and comfort.
Finally, you can make this a better year by doing something helpful for someone else. Could be someone you do not know that well. Find a need someone has and fill it! You can forgive someone who has hurt you, love someone unlovable, pray for someone in need and help them in some way meet that need. We welcome 2005 and we welcome the Lord into our everyday living. Have a healthy, prosperous, and blessed New Year.
