Pastor's Place

November

A Pastor received an invitation to attend a class reunion. He took a look at the class secretary’s plea for addresses. Many of his classmate’s whereabouts were unknown. He got to thinking; I wonder what’s happened to them? As he’d gotten older, he often had those kinds of thoughts. Sometimes he’d wonder about people who were complete strangers and not only about people had he known well.

Watching silent movies occasionally and seeing casts of hundreds, he wondered. These people, whose existence was recorded for a few seconds on a piece of now neglected film, did they reach all the goals they had set

for themselves? Where did they go? Had they hoped to be discovered? Were the few seconds on the camera their only claim to fame? He wondered what happened to them.

It seemed one of the sorry marks of a sinful world that people forget. Those who win Academy Awards now, will be almost entirely forgotten a century from now. Political leaders now acclaimed by thousands will in a few generations be a footnote in the history books. People forget. Even those folks who were once important to us, friends, and confidants slowly slip from memory.

In contrast to short-term memories, we are really blessed to have a Savior who never forgets us! Though there are billions of people on this planet—even though ignored by everyone else—Jesus remembers us! More than that, Jesus loves us. Do you have sin? He died to forgive it. Do you have pain? He will help you carry it. Do you feel alone? He will never forsake you! You will live because of Him and be remembered for all Eternity! That’s why Jesus came. So remember Him and live each day by giving thanks. Not just this month because it’s the month we celebrate Thanksgiving, but every single day!

A blessed Thanksgiving and life to all.

In Christ,
